Timna Tarr

Timna Tarr comes from a long line of quilters, but did not begin quilting until after studying art history in college. She bought her first longarm in 2001 and started quilting quilts for customers shortly thereafter. Timna’s quilts have won awards in traditional and modern categories at shows such as the International Quilt Festival, QuiltCon and Road to California. Her Noble Menagerie series will be a solo exhibition for the International Quilt Festival in 2020-2021. Timna has been a guest onThe Quilt Show and Quilting Arts TV and her quilts have been featured in national and international publications. Her works can be found in both private and corporate collections. Timna is an in-demand teacher and speaker. She travels across the U.S. teaching for a good part of the year. She currently lives in Western Massachusetts.

“My work is about color and small compositions. Each block in a quilt is made as its own element, independent of the other blocks. After all of the blocks are constructed, my goal is to arrange the small compositions to play off each other and work together to create a larger whole. What keeps me engaged is watching how the project changes and transforms with the addition of each color and texture.”
